Drug Arrests

It’s been a busy week for the officers of JPD as two separate incidents resulted in arrest and the seizure of narcotics that won’t make it to the neighborhoods of our City. On Wednesday, officers attempted to stop a car occupied by two people for a simple traffic violation and immediately found themselves in harm’s way as the driver tried to elude them by ramming a vehicle. Officer’s quickly made a felony stop on Hwy 26 and took Skyler Williams and Ariel Barry, both of 444 Commercial St, Lake Arthur, into custody for the traffic and aggravated flight charges. A search of the car produced over an ounce of substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $3000 once packaged for sale. Due to the packaging and the prior arrest record of Williams for illegal narcotic sales, JPD reached out to Lake Arthur PD and together continued the investigation. After securing a search warrant, the residence in Lake Arthur produced a scale and plastic bags used for packaging, along with a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia. Both Williams and Barry are facing possession with intent to distribute Schedule II CDS (METH) along with other charges and were booked into the Jeff Davis Parish jail.
On Friday morning, a “no knock” search warrant was executed by members of JPD at 916 Florence St, Apt 10C in Jennings following a long undercover investigation stemming from calls in the area. A large amount of cocaine, both powder and rock form was recovered and Felicia Hicks, resident of the apartment, was taken into custody. A digital scale, as well as items used to manufacture crack cocaine was also recovered. The street value of the both forms of cocaine is estimated to be $5000. JPD would like to remind the public that without the help and calls from the public, we would not be successful in the fight to keep these dangerous drugs off our streets. For that, the men & women of the Jennings Police Department “Thank You” for making this a great place to work!
