Jennings police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a robbery suspect wanted for stealing money Monday evening out of a local gas station’s cash register.  The suspect, described as a black male, approximately 6-1 in height, was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and white ball cap when he fled on foot from Hobo’s Citgo on Shankland Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Monday night.
Jennings Police Department (JPD) Deputy Chief Danny Semmes said the suspect walked into the convenience store, put a cold drink on the counter for purchase, and reached over the counter to rob the
cash register once the clerk opened the drawer.  “After he took all of the money out of the register, the suspect fled on foot,” Semmes noted. Semmes added that the clerk was not injured in the robbery and
no other customers were in the store when the crime took place. The suspect did not appear to be armed.
“We are currently investigating the possibility that the suspect may not be from Jennings,” said Semmes. “We are looking at all avenues at this time.” Semmes added that video evidence and possible physical evidence were obtained in the robbery case. The police department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Anyone with possible information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the department’s anonymous tips line at (337) 275-9002.
“The Jennings Police Department may be able to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of this suspect,” Semmes summed up.
